A midwinter morning´s dream

Have you ever imagined William Shakespeare´s characters dancing Bollywood tunes in the centre of Madrid?

That unusual but appealing idea was what Face 2 Face Theatre Company decided to make real one day. Many people have surely heard about the play, A Midsummer Night´s Dream, but not everybody will have enjoyed it in this attractive setting.

We are not in summer. Neither is it late at night. But behind the red curtains of the Alcázar Theatre five many-sided actors show in their powerful and convincing performance what love has in store for us. Helena yearns for Demetrius, who loves Hermia. However, she and Lysander love each other. And Puck,…what about this naughty pixie?
Under the magical Indian sky, Puck misinterprets King Oberon´s orders and he casts a spell on the four lovers, who fall madly in love at first sight when they wake up. The misunderstood Helena becomes the most desired lady and Titania, the Queen of Fairies, falls for a ridiculous crafstman transformed into an ass. Fortunately, there´s nothing a well spread love potion cannot do. So Puck reconsiders his actions and by morning every heart belongs to the right person.

A Midsummer Night´s Dream is, without any doubt, a wonderful combination of humour, English literature and exotic music which makes you notice that life is sometimes nothing but a dream.
